Ronaldo’s mother claims she did not want her son to return to United

Cristiano Ronaldo’s stunning move to Juventus this summer will have left a lot of Manchester United fans upset that one of the greatest stars to ever don the Red shirt will likely never wear it again.

For years there had been speculation that Ronaldo would return home to Old Trafford after leaving the club back in 2009. But with his £89m move to Italy sealing the Portuguese’s future for the next 4 years at least, it is highly unlikely that it will be Ronaldo’s final move in football.

However, Ronaldo’s mother has insisted that she did not want her son to return to United, saying she is ‘very happy’ with his decision to join Juventus.

The 33-year-old had been linked with both United and PSG before making his move to Juve, and although his mother has previously been quoted as saying she would rather he returned to United than signed for PSG, she denies saying she wanted her son to rejoin the Red Devils.

“It’s a lie that I wanted him to return to Manchester United,” she told reporters. “It’s not true.

“I’m very happy with his choice. It’s a very happy day for all of us. My son will make Juve even bigger. This is a new adventure and a new life. He enjoyed it at Real Madrid but he needed other challenges.”

Surprisingly, Ronaldo revealed during his first interview as a Juventus player that the Serie A side were the only club who tabled an offer for him, meaning United and PSG’s interest was purely speculation.
