Romero And Lingard To Start, De Gea And Greenwood On The Bench: United’s Predicted XI To Play Chelsea

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suggested at his pre-match press conference yesterday that Sergio Romero could be “involved” against Chelsea tomorrow evening.

The Argentinian international has played in all five games in the FA Cup so far so it is very likely that the keeper will replace David De Gea in goal.

In terms of the defence, Timothy Fosu-Mensah got a surprise start against Crystal Palace and he could well keep his place with Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams both struggling with injuries. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire are also likely to be selected.

Scott McTominay was named in the eleven at Selhurst Park but Solskjaer is expected to recall Nemanja Matic to face his old club at Wembley, playing alongside Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes.

Solskjaer also hinted that Jesse Lingard will be given a chance to impress against Chelsea, and if we take him at his word, the likeliest to give way would be Mason Greenwood who has been suffering with a knock to the ankle.

Manchester United’s Predicted XI To Face Chelsea:

Romero, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Fosu-Mensah, Matic, Fernandes, Pogba, Lingard, Martial, Rashford
