Romano Makes Enzo Fernandez Claim As He Speaks Out On United’s Pursuit Of 106M Rated Portuguese Ace

Benfica are expected to hold out for €120m (£106m) if Manchester United make an approach for Goncalo Ramos this summer, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Portuguese international has the exact same release clause as Enzo Fernandez had in his contract before he joined Chelsea in January, and Romano believes Benfica will try to sell Ramos for a similar figure:

“Manchester United scouts have been following the player for a really long time. They really appreciate Goncalo Ramos, he’s one of many players they are tracking. But it’s important to say the Benfica position – Benfica love the player, they want to keep him.”

“But there is a release clause. The release clause is there. It’s going to be valid in the summer 100% and it’s €120m release clause for Goncalo Ramos – the same as Enzo Fernandez – so let’s see what happens.”

United are clearly watching Ramos very closely but whether he is worth breaking the club’s transfer record for, it is up for debate. His goal record this season has been excellent, scoring 23 times in all competitions.

However, the 21-year-old did only score once in the Champions League group stages before bagging himself a brace against Club Brugge earlier this week. It may suggest he isn’t quite ready for the highest level.

United will be in the market for a new number nine this summer and, along with Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Ramos appears to be among the options being seriously considered.
