“Right Now…” Sporting Director Addresses 87M Rated Serie A Star’s Future Amid United Transfer Links

Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has refused to be drawn on whether Victor Osimhen will be available when the January transfer window opens.

The Nigerian international has been regularly linked with moves to Manchester United and Chelsea over the past few months but, when asked about the striker’s future, Giuntoli was reluctant to say whether a sale was being considered:

“I repeat, we are not thinking about the transfer market right now. We try to grow day by day and see what we can achieve. Our transfer strategy is always done with the head and not the heart, both for incoming and outgoing players. I think we have always managed to form a competitive squad and we are doing well this season too.”

Osimhen’s price tag is believed to be €100m (£87m) and this is a sizeable valuation for a player who has spent a good amount of time on the treatment table since he arrived in Italy back in 2020.

His goal record for Napoli is pretty decent, scoring 33 times in 71 appearances, and the fact that he is only 23 years of age means he does have potential to improve in the future.

Whether Osimhen will top United’s list of striker targets, we shall have to wait and see, but he is definitely a player to keep an eye on.
