REPORT: Update On Contract Status Of Teenage Sensation

Manchester United have been handed a huge boost in the pursuit of Adrian Blake – the 17-year-old has yet to renew his contract with Watford, which is set to expire in the summer (via Fabrizio Romano on Twitter).

In Romano’s tweet, he wrote: “Understand Watford have no agreement on new long term deal with in demand acadamy player Adrian Blake.

“Blake, now set to explore opportunities abroad when his scholarship expires in June. Fifa compensation will be due on a player who has featured for the first team twice.”

However, the Red Devils aren’t the only club who are thought to be interested in the young man – according to a report from The Athletic, Newcastle United are also looking closely at Blake.

Blake is incredibly highly rated by Watford – so much so that despite being just 17 years of age, he has already been promoted to the first team. He made his senior team debut in the FA Cup against Reading, where the Hornets were beaten by a score of 2-0.

He has yet to make his debut in a league game – he has sat on the bench for a couple of games this season, though. Should he opt to remain at Watford, one must assume that it will come sooner rather than later.

Likely all the Premier League clubs are looking at Blake and thinking about how he could add to their ranks but it seems Man United and Newcastle United are the early pace-setters.

Watford have produced a slew of talented footballers over the last couple of decades, including the likes of Britt Assombalonga, Andy Yiadom and former United and current Aston Villa player Ashley Young – could Adrian Blake be their newest success story?
