REPORT: United ‘Willing’ To Spend 66M On 12 Cap International, Offer Could Be Made In The ‘Next Few Days’

Manchester United are “willing” to shell out €75m (£66m) on Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa, according to Fichajes.net.

The Spanish rumour mongers say that a bid could be tabled in the “next few days”, although we shall see if that claim is backed up by other sources,

Costa was Portugal’s number one goalkeeper at the World Cup, but he has only been capped 12 times by his country, having only recently replaced Rui Patricio as first choice.

Other clubs, including Chelsea, Barcelona and Juventus, have also been mentioned as potential suitors for the 23-year-old, but it appears United are the leading contenders to snap him up at the moment.

Manager Erik ten Hag is considering potential replacements for David De Gea. The Spaniard’s contract expires in the summer and, while the club do have an option to extend his stay for another year, it is believed that they are currently in talks with the player to cut his £300,000 a week salary.

If an agreement can’t be reached with De Gea, he is expected to leave Old Trafford on a free at the end of the season, with Costa seemingly being eyed as his successor.
