REPORT: United Weigh Up Double Swoop For £72m Rated Brazilian Duo

Manchester United are interested in Juventus duo Alex Sandro and Douglas Costa, according to Calciomercato.com. The Italian website claims both players would cost in the region of €40m (£36m), which would amount to €80m (£72m) for the pair.

Costa’s name has been consistently linked with the Red Devils over the past few months, with it being suggested that the 29-year-old could be seen as a cheaper alternative to Jadon Sancho.

The winger’s injury record would be a major concern with the Brazilian having picked up a number of muscular problems last campaign, and he is currently sidelined with a torn abductor muscle.

With Costa turning 30 next month, a €40m fee would be pretty steep as well, and Calciomercato claim United may well start the bidding at €30m (£27m), which would probably be a more sensible number.

In Sandro’s case, it seems the Red Devils have shown greater interest in recent days. The Brazilian has been tracked by Chelsea, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain in the past, but the left-back is now firmly on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s radar.

Considering Brandon Williams’ less than stellar displays in the absence of the injured Luke Shaw, it could well be the case that United are looking to strengthen in that area of the pitch.
