REPORT: United Tracking Mexican Midfielder Carlos Rodriguez

Manchester United are interested in signing Monterrey midfielder Carlos Rodriguez, according to reports in Mexico.

Carlos Lopez Silanes, a scout for the Red Devils, was pictured speaking to the player’s agent during Monterrey’s match with Necaxa.

The former defender (who played in England for Chester and Wycombe) confirmed he was at the match on Twitter but denied he was specifically scouting Rodriguez:

Rodriguez would certainly be a player worth looking at. The midfielder is only 22 years of age and has room to develop his game.

This campaign, he has made 37 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing nine assists.

United were also said to be looking at another Monterrey player, Rodolfo Pizarro. The midfielder scored the only goal in his side’s 1-0 win over Necaxa on Monday.

It remains to be seen whether United will firm up their interest in either player or if they will move on to other targets.
