Manchester United are “thinking about” making a bid for AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori, according to Calciomercato.it.
The former Chelsea player only signed a new contract with the Serie A champions back in August, but it is thought that the Rossoneri could “waver” in their stance to keep him if they receive a good enough offer.
It is believed that a fee of around €50m (£44m) to €60m (£53m) would be enough for United to prise Tomori away from Italy. Whether Erik ten Hag’s side would be tempted at that price to recruit the 6ft 1 defender, it is up for debate.
The Red Devils are expected to be in the market for a new centre-half, with either Harry Maguire or Victor Lindelof tipped to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season.
However, with ten Hag’s favoured pairing being Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, €50m would be a lot to spend on a backup option when other positions are in need of strengthening.
