REPORT: United Start Tracking Verona Midfield Maestro Matteo Pessina

Manchester United have sent scouts to watch Verona midfielder Matteo Pessina “several times” according to Calciomercato.com. The Italian website claims that the Red Devils are watching him and his teammate Marash Kumbulla.

Pessina is currently on loan with the Serie A club from Atalanta, but his performances have come to the attention of a number of Italian sides, including Inter Milan, AC Milan, Fiorentina and Napoli.

The 22-year-old has made 22 appearances this season, scoring three goals. If United had representatives in the stands last night for Verona’s game against Juventus, they would have been seriously impressed by what they would have seen.

Pessina played the full 90 minutes as the Italian minnows won 2-1 against league leaders Juventus. They came from 1-0 down to complete a shock comeback against Maurizio Sarri’s side.

The midfielder does not have a great deal of experience of playing at the top level, with his only game time in Serie A before this season coming as a bench player for Atalanta.
