Manchester United are “ready to make” an offer for AC Milan winger Rafael Leao if the Portuguese international refuses to sign a new contract, according to Pianetamilan.it.
The Italian website claims they have an “exclusive” story that the Red Devils are likely to press ahead with a formal bid for Leao this summer.
Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have all been mentioned as potential suitors but it appears that United also hold a serious interest in the player.
Leao does have a €150m (£133m) release clause and, while Pianeta Milan claim that the Rossoneri would like to hold out for a fee close to that figure, his contract situation means that is very unlikely to happen.
The 23-year-old’s current deal expires in 2024 and, if the winger doesn’t put pen to paper on an extension very soon, Milan will be forced into selling him for a much lower price.
