Manchester United are now in pole position to sign Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, according to La Repubblica.

The Italian newspaper claims that the Red Devils are currently favourites to secure the Nigerian international’s signature, ahead of a number of other Premier League teams.

Arsenal have also been heavily linked with Osimhen in recent weeks, but it is believed that Newcastle are likely to be the Red Devils’ main rivals for the 23-year-old at the moment.

Napoli are expected to hold out for at least €90m (£77m) for the striker, who has scored 17 goals in all competitions so far this season.

United are said to be keen on strengthening their options up front. Edinson Cavani is set to leave when his contract expires next month, while Anthony Martial is also tipped to move away from Old Trafford.

It remains to be seen, though, whether Osimhen would consider joining United ahead of other clubs without the prospect of Champions League football.
