REPORT: United Make ‘First Contact’ As Solskjaer Targets Deal For £18m Rated Serie A Star

Manchester United have made “first contact” about signing Fiorentina midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli, according to Todofichajes.com.

The Spanish rumour mongers claim that the 23-year-old is being pursued at the personal request of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who sees the Italian as a promising player for the future.

Castrovilli has only come to prominence this season, having been loaned out to Serie B side Cremonese between 2017 and 2019.

The midfielder has, though, featured regularly in the starting line up under the guidance of Viola manager Giuseppe Iachini, having made 23 appearances in the league so far this campaign.

Fiorentina are said to value Castrovilli at around €20m (£18m) but they may have to lower their demands, considering the current financial climate.

Whether there is any substance to this rumour, we shall have to wait and see. United already have a number of midfielders in the squad, while it would be a surprise if they blocked the path to the first team for the likes of James Garner and Angel Gomes.
