REPORT: United Have “Identified” Who They Want To Be Cavani’s Successor (And It’s Not Haaland Or Kane)

Manchester United have “identified” Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin as the “ideal candidate” to replace Edinson Cavani, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims the Red Devils are looking for a long-term successor to Cavani, who is expected to leave Old Trafford at the end of next season, and they believe Calvert-Lewin is the perfect fit.

There are, however, a number of other clubs interested in Calvert-Lewin, with both Arsenal and Real Madrid said to be keen on the 24-year-old, who scored 21 goals last campaign.

The striker is likely to cost at least £50m, but that would still make him a lot cheaper than United’s other potential transfer targets.

Tottenham forward Harry Kane is believed to be on the Manchester club’s radar, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is expected to demand £150m for the 27-year-old. Another candidate, Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland, is valued at a similar figure.

We shall see whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side make their move for Calvert-Lewin this summer or if they decide to wait until next year.
