REPORT: United ‘Favourite’ To Sign £53m Rated Italian Ace After They Open Talks

Manchester United are the “favourite” to sign Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa, according to La Nazione. The Italian newspaper reports that the Red Devils are leading the race for the Italian after holding discussions about a transfer fee.

Chelsea, Inter Milan and Juventus are also very keen on the 22-year-old, but it is claimed none of those clubs have so far made a formal approach for the player, unlike United.

Fiorentina are said to be holding out for at least €60m (£53m) for Chiesa, which is a considerable amount, but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may see it as a worthwhile investment if they decide that a move for Jadon Sancho this summer is not possible.

The Italian international is available, according to Fiorentina’s president Rocco Commisso, but they will only agree to a sale if a club meets their valuation:

“Chiesa must decide, and as I said, if he wants to leave, I’ll settle as long as the figure is right. How much is Lautaro [Martinez]’s release clause? €111 million? Well, I could take a million off Chiesa. No, I’m kidding. As long as the amount is right.”

“I’m thinking for the good of Fiorentina. If Chiesa wants to go, our priority will be to get the right financial compensation. There are no vetoes for some teams. But right now, I have a splendid relationship with Federico and his father. There is a positive climate that should not be altered.”

Chiesa has been in good form for Fiorentina this campaign, having scored seven goals and provided five assists in 26 appearances.
