REPORT: United Eyeing January Swoop For German World Cup Winner

Manchester United are interested in signing Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller in the January transfer window, according to Sport Bild.

The German publication believe the arrival of Phillipe Coutinho at the Allianz Arena means the World Cup winner will find it difficult to get regular game time this season.

Muller has made 12 appearances this campaign, but he has made just three starts in the league. Manager Niko Kovac last named him in the starting eleven for a Bundesliga game against RB Leipzig last month.

These days he generally plays centrally behind a number nine, but he does still start, on occasion, from the right-wing. That is a position which United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be keen to strengthen in January.

In fact, Muller played wide on the right on one of his rare starts against Olympiakos on Tuesday night. He provided two assists in the 3-2 win before being substituted.
