REPORT: United And Chelsea Competing With La Liga Club For 42M Rated France U21 International

Manchester United, Chelsea and Sevilla are all interested in signing Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile, according to L’Equipe.

The Red Devils are thought to be keeping tabs on the France Under 21 international, who they have looked at signing in previous transfer windows.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are considering their options after failing to secure the services of Sevilla’s Jules Kounde, and they have identified Badiashile as a possible alternative.

Ironically, Sevilla actually see the Monaco star as a potential replacement for Kounde, if their player does finalise a move to Barcelona in the coming days.

L’Equipe report that Sevilla are the team who have made the biggest effort to recruit Badiashile, having held talks with his club. The La Liga side are said to be keen on a part-exchange offer, with one of their players moving in the other direction, but such a deal isn’t believed to be of interest to Monaco. The Ligue One club are looking to get at least €50m (£42m) for the centre-back.

From United’s perspective, it’s possible that the 21-year-old is being targeted as a potential replacement for Eric Bailly. The Ivorian is being pursued by Roma and could leave on loan.
