REPORT: Solskjaer Decides Whether Kane Or Sancho Will Be United’s Top Summer Transfer Target

Manchester United have decided against making a bid for Tottenham striker Harry Kane this summer, according to the Daily Mail‘s Joe Bernstein.

The newspaper’s North-West football correspondent, who has pretty close connections to the Red Devils, reports that a £120m move for the England captain is unlikely, with the Manchester club favouring a move for Jadon Sancho instead.

It has been claimed that the Borussia Dortmund winger will be available for around €95m (£82m) and it is believed that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, along with the Director of Football John Murtough, have decided that the 21-year-old should be the priority.

The thinking behind their choice is the fact that Solskjaer is rather keen on sealing a deal for Erling Haaland next year, when the Norwegian’s €75m (£64.5m) release clause can be triggered.

It is felt that, as Edinson Cavani signed a one-year extension to keep him at Old Trafford for another season, it will tie them over until they can sign Haaland in 2022. Competition could be fierce for the 20-year-old, with Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid also said to be interested, but Solskjaer feels his close connection with the striker’s family could prove crucial.
