Manchester United are considering Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Kai Havertz as a potential alternative to Jadon Sancho, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Talks between the Red Devils and Borussia Dortmund have reached an impasse following the German club’s public statement that they intend to keep Sancho.
With negotiations dragging on, United many need to look at potential alternatives, and Havertz is named as one of three options, alongside Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman and Bournemouth’s David Brooks. Unlike Sancho, Havertz is not a traditional winger, and United do have a big task on their hands if they are to beat Chelsea to the German international’s signature.
The midfielder has reportedly already agreed personal terms with the Blues but, much like with the Sancho deal, Leverkusen are digging their heels in over the transfer fee.
It is believed the Bundesliga side are demanding €100m (£90m) for Havertz, which would still make him a cheaper target than Sancho.
