REPORT: Manchester United Transfer Target ‘Wants’ To Move To The Club

Monaco defender Axel Disasi has reportedly stated that he ‘wants’ a move to Manchester United in the summer transfer window, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

Despite this, Disasi is not Manchester United’s first choice. Instead, they will prioritise a move for Kim Min-jae – if they fail to bring the South Korean on board, Disasi will likely become their primary defensive transfer target.

In Romano’s tweet, he wrote: “Axel Disasi wants Manchester United as L’Equipe reported — he’s plan B option in list on the French market mentioned today. Understand there’s still nothing concrete in terms of agreement between Man Utd and AS Monaco — Kim Min jae remains the top target as CB.”

Who else, besides Manchester United, is interested in Axel Disasi?

Manchester United are not the only massive club who have Disasi on their radar. According to a report from the Metro, both Chelsea and Manchester City are thought to be interested in the player.

Despite this, with the player himself preferring a move to Old Trafford over the Red Devils’ Premier League rivals, United remain the leading candidates to bring him on board. Should any club wish to pursue a move for Disasi, they will be required to pay a fee of around £43 million.

Axel Disasi career summary

Disasi joined his first youth academy, at Villiers-le-Bel JS, when he was just eight years old. He enjoyed a brief stint at USM Senlis before making the leap to Paris FC in 2014.

He made just three senior appearances for the Parisians, scoring a single goal, before moving to Reims in 2016. He went on to make 45 appearances for Les rouges et blancs’ senior team, scoring two goals.

In 2020, he was snapped up by Monaco for a fee in the region of £11 million. He has made 99 appearances for the French giants, with seven goals to his name.
