Report Claims United Are Ahead Of Liverpool As Both Clubs Make ‘Concrete Proposals’ For 42M Rated Brazilian

Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle have all made “concrete proposals” to sign Ajax winger Antony, according to UOL Esporte.

The Brazilian news outlet claim that the Magpies’ offer has already been rejected so it will come down to a straight fight between the Red Devils and Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Ajax are said to be demanding at least €50m (£42m) for Antony, but some sources in the Dutch media have suggested that they could even hold out for around €60m (£50.6m).

Whatever the asking price, though, UOL say United do have two major advantages over Liverpool. His former boss Erik ten Hag is now at Old Trafford, and it is believed that the pair have a strong bond.

Secondly, it is believed that Liverpool are not willing to step up their interest with a former offer for Antony until the future of Mo Salah is resolved. The Egyptian has a year left on his contract at Anfield and he has been locked in talks over his extension for a number of months.

It is, therefore, likely that, if United make a quick move for the Brazilian international, they should win the race to secure his signature.
