Superagent Jorge Mendes has informed Napoli to expect a €140m (£119m) bid from Manchester United for Victor Osimhen in the coming days, according to Il Mattino.

The Italian publication claims that, if the Nigeran international does make the switch to Old Trafford, it would open up the possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo moving in the other direction.

Mendes is Ronaldo’s agent so how he knows about United’s intentions for Osimhen, it isn’t known, and you also have to question the figure that Il Mattino suggest as the striker’s transfer fee.

Erik ten Hag’s side are about to spend €100m (£85m) on Antony so it is very unlikely that they would have the transfer funds left available to bring in Osimhen as well.

The 23-year-old has been the subject of interest from other Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Chelsea, but Napoli have been reluctant to lower their valuation of the player.

If Il Mattino are to be believed, the Serie A club’s resolve to keep Osimhen could be tested before Thursday’s transfer deadline, but we shall have to wait and see whether their reporting is accurate.
