Reliable Journalist Confirms United Could Still Swoop In To Sign Barca Star At The “Last Minute”

Manchester United target Memphis Depay could leave Barcelona on a free transfer before the window shuts, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Reliable sources, including David Ornstein, have suggested that the Red Devils could re-sign the Dutch international, and Romano has added fuel to the fire that the player may still move teams ahead of tonight’s deadline:

“Memphis Depay could be an opportunity until the last minute because we know that Barcelona are prepared to let him go on a free transfer in case he will reach an agreement with another club.”

Many supporters feel that United’s forward line lacks depth, even after the arrival of Antony from Ajax. Depay could be a smart piece of business considering he can be picked up without a transfer fee.

The 28-year-old did struggle during his first spell at Old Trafford but he has rebuilt his career since leaving England, having a very successful period at Lyon before making the switch to Barca last year.

Other Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, West Ham and Arsenal, have been mentioned as potential suitors for Depay, but United could also be in the mix for the player’s signature.
