Rashford ‘should leave Old Trafford’ insists former Manchester United star

Former Manchester United star Teddy Sheringham is the latest in a long line of people who believe Marcus Rashford should leave Old Trafford this summer.

Rashford has found first team opportunities difficult to come by since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez at the club in January.

And Jose Mourinho’s refusal to use him, despite Sanchez’s poor form, has led to speculation he could leave his boyhood club in search of more regular game time at the end of the season.

And Sheringham, who spent four season with United between 1997-2001, says that unless the youngster can be guaranteed regular games next year, he needs to leave Old Trafford to ensure he realises his full potential.

“I said at the start of the season about Marcus Rashford that he needs to play games,” stated Sheringham.

“He needs to learn what he can get away with on a football pitch, what he can do, what he can’t do.

“You don’t learn that by watching other people play.

“I don’t care how good the players are, it’s all about experience, it’s about making mistakes along the way and coming up against these players week-in, week-out and knowing how to prepare to play next season and the season after that.

“But if you don’t get the experience, you don’t get the chance. All you do is sit and watch and you make mistakes later in life.

“He needs to learn now, he’s an unbelievable talent for me, and he needs to be playing in a first team somewhere.”

Rashford has been linked with moves to both Chelsea and Arsenal, as well as La Liga champions Barcelona.
