Trusted German journalist Raphael Honigstein says he now fully expects Borussia Dortmund to sell Jadon Sancho in the summer.
Manchester United, along with Liverpool and Real Madrid have been tipped to make a move for the former Manchester City player, and Honigstein says he believes the England international won’t be staying in Germany for another twelve months. Writing in a Q&A on The Athletic, he said:
“Players like Sancho join because they expect to be sold at a certain stage. BVB can’t really keep him for another year, in my view.”
In response to another question, Honigstein says he thinks there is a much greater chance of Sancho being offloaded than his teammate; United and Chelsea target Erling Haaland:
“I do think that Sancho will leave. Haaland probably not.”
Whether Honigstein is simply guessing or has some insider information regarding Sancho and Haaland, it remains to be seen. Previous reports in Germany have suggested that Dortmund may have to sell their star players if they finish outside of the Champions League places. They currently sit sixth in the Bundesliga table.
