Rangnick Used Seven Damning Words To Describe United Squad During Discussions With Murtough And Arnold

Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick described the first-team squad as “selfish, over-inflated, lacking quality and too powerful” in a meeting with football director John Murtough and CEO Richard Arnold, according to The Mirror.

The German did not hold back in his criticism of the players, who he believes have a shocking lack of professionalism. He cited instances where players have simply ignored his instructions, whilst many others simply don’t possess the energy and quality to play in the Premier League.

Rangnick reportedly believes the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Victor Lindelof are not good enough to be regular starters in defence, but he feels the club should not dispense with the services of captain Harry Maguire, despite the criticism the England international has received.

There is hope for Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford, who could well be suited for Erik ten Hag, but Rangnick is adamant that a younger striker is needed to lead the line. Whether United will heed his advice to completely overhaul the squad, we shall have to wait and see.
