Premier League striker is a much better option for Man United than Morata

Manchester United have endured a frustrating transfer window thus far, with their woes including missing out on prime-target Antoine Griezmann, but Jose Mourinho and his side seem determined to turn things around.

The loss of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and seemingly imminent exit of Wayne Rooney increases the need for Manchester United to sign a top-class striker this summer and the Red Devils have been linked with a host of names.

Following the collapse in a Griezmann deal, Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata and the latest reports suggest a deal worth an incredible £66m has been lodged with the Spanish side.

Whilst Morata is a top-class striker, questions remain as to whether he’s worth that monumental amount and many fans believe there is better options out there- which is why a reemergence in reports linking Mourinho’s men to the services of Everton striker Romelu Lukaku are important.

Belgian ace Lukaku looks set to leave Goodison Park this summer to take the next step in his career, although the Toffees are pursuing a world-record fee for the former Chelsea man, and Manchester United may already have their foot in the door.

Ronald Koeman’s side are heavily linked with bringing Manchester United skipper Wayne Rooney back to Merseyside and negotiations over a deal for the England captain could help Manchester United discuss a deal for Lukaku.

It won’t be easy for Manchester United though as Premier League champions Chelsea are determined to bring the striker back to Stamford Bridge, with Diego Costa closing in on a return to Atletico Madrid, but beating the Blues to a deal would be a significant coup for United.

Lukaku boasts an incredible record in his career to date, scoring over 100 Premier League goals, and the fact he’s already accustomed to the challenges of the Premier League will help Manchester United push on next season.

The danger of Lukaku struggling to fit in to his new surroundings would be significantly decreased and Manchester United would once again have a young striker who’s capable of becoming the best in the division, making him the perfect replacement for Rooney.

With Everton reportedly demanding around £100m for their star-man, a deal for Manchester United could be costly but the Red Devils cannot afford to tread carefully in the market this summer as their rivals have already gone for broke in the market.

Jose Mourinho’s side showed potential last summer but there’s certainly still a lot of work to be done.
