Premier League Return Date Has Been Pencilled In With United In Strong Position To Capitalise

Manchester United and other Premier League clubs could be back in action by the second week of June, according to the Mirror. The tabloid claims the Premier League have been locked in talks with the government over their plans to return to action.

It is believed that teams will make a gradual return to training over the coming weeks, with full training predicted to start in the last week of May.

In terms of testing, a comprehensive programme will be put in place, with all personnel who will be at games being tested up to three times a week to ensure there are no carriers of COVID-19.

There are, however, some significant hurdles to overcome. Discussions will be held over whether matches will need to be played at neutral venues in order to reduce travel, while lockdown restrictions by the government will also need to ease before these plans can be put in place.

For United supporters, this news will be very welcome. With Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba likely to be fit, combined with the excellent form of Bruno Fernandes before games were put on hold, the Red Devils could now finish the season very strongly.

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side just three points off Chelsea in fourth, they will be hoping to clinch a Champions League spot when the campaign resumes.
