Predicting The FIVE BIGGEST Premier League Transfers That Could Happen This Summer

A number of Premier League teams are expected to spend big in the transfer market over the course of the next few months.

Financial pressures have lifted after the global health crisis while a number of the top teams (such as United and Chelsea) need to strengthen their squads if they are to bridge the gap to the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.

So, we have decided to predict which players will end up making high-profile moves to Premier League clubs. We will probably revisit our predictions in a few months’ time to see how close we were to being right.

Press the next page as we predict the five biggest transfers involving English teams during the summer transfer window.

5) Jules Kounde (£50m) to Chelsea

With Chelsea’s takeover completed, it does appear that the Sevilla defender will be the first name through the door as the Blues look to rebuild their defence ahead of the impending departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

Kounde has also been linked with Manchester United and Manchester City over the last year, but Chelsea are believed to have already agreed personal terms with the player. With Sevilla needing the cash to improve their finances, they are likely to accept an offer below his €80m (£68m) release clause

4) Kalvin Phillips (£50m to £60m) to Manchester City

The England international has two years left on his contract at Leeds but talks about extending his stay at Elland Road have stalled, with the player said to be open to leaving his hometown club.

Rivals Manchester United and West Ham have been mentioned as potential suitors but Manchester City are the team who are favourites for his signature, as they look to find a replacement for their captain Fernandinho, who is leaving the Etihad this summer.

3) Gabriel Jesus (€60m or £51m) to Arsenal

The Gunners have been pressing hard to secure the Brazilian international’s services, having reportedly opened discussions with the forward’s agents all the way back in November.

It means they are the frontrunners to land Jesus ahead of Tottenham and other clubs, but City have slapped a high asking price on the player, despite the fact he has only twelve months left on his contract. Arsenal may have to bite the bullet as they desperately need a new number nine.

2) Christopher Nkunku (€75m or £64m) to Manchester United or Chelsea

The Frenchman was named Bundesliga Player of the Year, after scoring 20 goals and providing 15 assists in 34 appearances for Leipzig, leading to clubs taking a keen interest in the player.

Leipzig are said to be determined to keep hold of Nkunku this summer, but if a sizeable offer does come from a Premier League side, they will find it hard to turn down.

1) Darwin Nunez (€80m or £68m) to Manchester United or Chelsea

It’s possible that whoever misses out on Nkunku between United and Chelsea will end up pursuing Nunez instead. Respected journalist David Ornstein has confirmed that both teams are keeping tabs on the Uruguayan international.

Benfica are, though, expected to hold out for a high price so there is a strong possibility that Nunez will become the most expensive signing by a Premier League team this summer (unless someone blows the budget on Declan Rice!)
