It is no secret that Manchester United are actively seeking new signings this summer. With around £150m invested in 2014, Louis van Gaal is keen on getting his business done early this time around and forming a side that can challenge for silverware once again.

United’s outgoings look to be fairly straightforward and guessable, with just question marks over the futures of Robin van Persie and Angel di Maria to be decided, although both players look set to stay.

The side that United could set out with next season is debatable. If you take into account every player that is linked with United on a daily basis, it would quite literally be impossible to fit everyone on the field. However, realistically there are a few players that look likely to come to Old Trafford this summer and help to form what could be a formidable side.

So lets take a look at how the team could look next season if realistic signings are taken into account:

Valdes

Coleman – Smalling – Otamendi – Shaw

Schneiderlin – Carrick

Di Maria – Mata – Depay

Rooney

Looking at this side, it is hard to see a potential weak point. Perhaps the defence could look shaky on paper, but with a solid run of games from both Shaw and Coleman that would all be changed.

The concerning factor for me is that I don’t see room for various stars to play. Players such as Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini, who played such integral parts last season, won’t really find themselves being put into this system.

It might be that Louis van Gaal sets out with a side entirely different from the one listed above. We know the Dutchman is a fan of Daley Blind and Ashley Young, so it could be safe to say Shaw and Depay would maybe make way for the duo.

Regardless, I think with the signings United look likely to make, The Red Devils can be challengers once again.
