Pogba’s Sidekick Putting Him To Shame

Pogba’s Sidekick Putting Him To Shame

No one knows better than Paul Scholes about giving 100% week in, week out for the Manchester United shirt and he was right to be riled having watched yet another sub standard performance from Paul Pogba at the weekend. It is a real cause for concern and he could learn a lot from his old United youth team sidekick – who is running through brick walls for the club.

Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard used to boss the midfield together in the youth ranks at Old Trafford – alongside the wasted talents of Ravel Morrison.

The trio were unplayable; however, all three have gone one on to achieve varying levels of success. Whilst Morrison went into obscurity, Pogba’s successes at Juventus ensured that he returned to the football club for a world record fee to lead Mourinho’s revolution at Old Trafford.

In fact it is now the lesser talented of the trio is the one that is putting in the performances, showing they kind of level of commitment that is required from a Manchester United player.

Lingard is putting Pogba to shame and it is becoming noticeable with every given week.

It is quite alarming to see the difference between the two players. Obviously Jesse hasn’t had the big money move, wages and adulation that comes with it; however, that shouldn’t make players care any less when it comes to doing their jobs on the football pitch.

Pogba knows the football club inside and out from his time in the academy and therefore you can’t even defend the player by suggesting he needs time to settle at the club. It is simply an attitude problem with the player – something that is no issue with Lingard.

Jesse has been sensational this season and one of the real success stories of the past few months. Fantastic commitment and drive – perfectly demonstrated in the recent 2-2 draw with Burnley. Coming off the bench, driving forward and scoring the two goals to save us from defeat is the type of effort you expect from everyone; however, he basically bailed out Pogba that day and making an amends for his lackluster display in that game.

You would expect your world record signing to be controlling games of football and leading by example and not left on the shoulders of Jesse Lingard.

Paul Scholes is absolutely right to speak out about Pogba – maybe its time the players started to question him in the dressing room because the truth is he isn’t bringing as much to the team as was hoped in the 18months since his return to Old Trafford.
