Phil Neville Hopes United Sign Four Players This Summer, Including Ex-Liverpool Star

Ex-Manchester United star Phil Neville has outlined who he would like the club to sign in the summer.

Asked to build his dream team, with money being no object, the current England Women’s manager said he would sign Philippe Coutinho, Gareth Bale, Eric Dier and Raphael Varane.

Justifying his decision to pick Bale above Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, Neville explained he went for the Welshman’s experience:

“Bale has won Champions League and played at the top, top level. I don’t think wages would be a problem. You’re talking guaranteed quality.”

When he was asked about signing former Liverpool midfielder Coutinho from Barcelona, he replied:

“I see this guy as a special player.”

With Dier’s signing, Neville felt that the spine of United’s team needed an English core to give the team some solidity:

“I think you have to have a resemblance of English/British players within your title-winning team.”

United have been linked with all four players over the past couple of years or so, but the major stumbling block would obviously be the amount of money.

Neville’s spending spree would cost an arm and a leg. You are talking £300m+ in terms of transfer fees alone, not to mention agent fees, signing-on fees and wages.
