Manchester United midfielder Fred put in an awful performance during the 2-2 draw against Leeds on Wednesday evening.
The Brazilian international was caught in possession on too many occasions and misplaced a staggering 21 passes as he was asked to anchor the midfield.
Fans on Twitter were unsurprisingly scathing about Fred’s display in the Roses derby, with many perplexed by his inability to keep the ball:
Perhaps his worst ever performance, in a long list of terrible performances. He's just so limited without case guiding him. Can't rely on him as a backup

The man just doesn’t know how to assert control without a big brother on the pitch.
You’d only be ok letting him drive your car as long as you were sat in there with him. Otherwise you know those airbags are going off.

He was absolutely terrible, can not remember how many passes he gave away but it had to be in double figures

Hard to think of a poorer performance from a player in red. He was an accident waiting to happen all night. I’m starting to pine for McTominay

I have nightmares of Fred receiving the ball in our half facing our goal

It always seems to be one step forward and two steps back with Fred. His inconsistency can be infuriating and it’s not a surprise that manager Erik ten Hag has not trusted him to be a regular starter since his arrival at Old Trafford.
The 29-year-old has produced some great moments from the bench this season, and he seems to thrive alongside Casemiro in midfield, who can provide a bit of stability, but he can’t be trusted to hold the fort himself.
With Casemiro still sidelined due to suspension, it will be interesting to see what ten Hag does with Fred in the reverse fixture at Elland Road this weekend.
