Paul Pogba Reveals Why He Chose To Come “Home”

Paul Pogba rejoined Manchester United in the summer of 2016 when he really could have signed for many teams in the world. United seemed like a logical choice for the Frenchman however as he was already familiar with Old Trafford having spent 3 years in Manchester in his formative years.

Still it says a lot that Pogba turned down the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona to come “home” citing “unfinished business” as a big factor as to why he wanted to return to the Premier League. As Metro report there are a number of reasons why the French star chose to resign with United. Pogba had this to say on the matter:

‘I came to Manchester United because I have certain goals. It is a big challenge for me,’ Pogba told SFR Sport.

‘I could also have joined Real Madrid or Barcelona, who were interested in signing me. But I chose to return to United because I followed my heart.’

‘I want to win trophies with Manchester United, I never won anything here. I always told myself that I would one day return to United. It is a club I love a lot and I had unfinished business here. I left because I wanted to play more, but I felt that I was not done here yet,’ he added.

‘I am not even thinking about the transfer fee. I came here to play football.’

So it seems that Paul Pogba likely turned down more money to play elsewhere when he decided to come back to United and despite his gaff which led to Liverpool’s penalty on Sunday fans are starting to see why Jose Mourinho wanted the Frenchman in his squad. The sky is the limit for Pogba and there is so much more to come from the player who set a world transfer fee record when United paid £89million to Juventus.
