Paul Pogba realises his childhood dream as France lift the World Cup

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has spoken out about his country’s World Cup 2018 victory, saying he was living a ‘boyhood dream’ as he lifted the trophy.

France stormed to victory in the final with a 4-2 victory over Croatia, confirming their status as the best in the world and deservedly so, after proving to be the most consistent team in the competition.

Didier Deschamps’ side did have to overcome some rocky periods during the game, but in the end there was never any doubt as Les Blues lifted the World Cup 20 years after doing so for the first time.

One man that particularly stood out in Moscow was Paul Pogba, who played a number of exquisite passes as well as finding the net himself, and the United man admitted he has achieved his childhood dream.

“It is a dream since I was a young boy. I hope we have made the people proud,” said Pogba.

The Frenchman also revealed his inspiring team talk, moments before kick-off.

“I told everyone before the game, ‘We are 90 minutes away from realising our dream,” he added.

“We are 90 minutes from entering into history books for life, and we were 90 minutes away from making France rock — even children, and their children, will know about this.

“So guys, we can do this. There are two teams and a Cup and we are not going to let another team take this Cup.’ That is all I told them.”
