Paul Pogba – ‘I am a United player, for the time being’

Paul Pogba has played down rumours of his future at Manchester United by insisting he remains fully focused on life at Old Trafford.

The Frenchman has endured a tumultuous second season with the club, and has been dropped to the bench by manager Jose Mourinho on numerous occasions after struggling to find consistent form.

Pogba was left out of both legs of United’s Champions League semi-final defeat to Sevilla last month, but the former Juve man insists that accepting setbacks is part and parcel of the game.

“He is the coach, he makes the decisions,” Pogba, 25, told French TV channel Canal+. “Me, I am a player. I accept it and I have to respond on the pitch.”

Rumours have been rife that Pogba could be on his way out of Old Trafford this summer after rumours of a fall-out with Mourinho over being dropped.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola recently claimed the 25-year-old midfielder was offered to him during the January transfer window, while Juventus were also understood to be eyeing a move to take him back to Italy in the summer.

But Pogba says he remains focused on life with Manchester United, and is happy with the role Jose Mourinho has handed him at Old Trafford.

“For the time being, I am at Manchester United and I am only thinking about the present. We are in the FA Cup final; I have a World Cup to come.

“Transfers, all that sort of thing, are not on my mind.”
