Paul Pogba hits back at critics

Manchester United star Paul Pogba has hit back at critics after he was jeered by French fans during their friendly with Italy last week.

It has been a tough season for Pogba, who has been in and out of the media spotlight on several occasions due to negative reasons. More recently it has been reported that he wants to leave Manchester United after a strained relationship with manager Jose Mourinho. The odds on the Frenchman leaving have been slashed massively this summer amid rumours of a return to Juventus, so if you do fancy a bet on the midfielder’s future matches check out the top US betting sites and sportsbooks to stay ahead of the game.

The midfielder’s biggest hurdle at the moment is keeping his starting place for France at the World Cup. Pogba was dropped several times in the season by Mourinho, and after his dire performance for France on Friday he was faced with jeers from his own fans when substituted during the game.

The 25-year-old’s poor performance was played down by French coach Deschamps, but the media as well as pundits continued to question his abilities.

However, the former Juventus man has hit back at critics, saying that no one can tell him how to play.

Speaking in an interview with France Football, Pogba said:

“I’ve always been like that. When I’ve won, I’ve won being like that. That’s my style of play.

“You’re not going to criticise Messi when he walks on the park.

“If he scores three goals are you going to say: ‘Ah but he’s walking on the pitch?’ No. You can’t tell me how to play.

“If I’m here today, it’s as I am. No one has told me how I must behave. That’s my football, that’s all.

“People can like it or not. Do I need this to be loved? Do I need people to judge me differently? Or do they talk better about me?”
