Patrice Evra Urges United To Pull Out Of Deal To Sign 80M Rated La Liga Star Who Is Not A “Killer” Goalscorer

Ex-Manchester United defender Patrice Evra doesn’t believe his former club should be pursuing a deal for Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix.

While he admires the Portuguese international as a player, he doesn’t think he is the right fit for United, who should be focusing their efforts on securing a consistent goalscorer:

“We need to replace the 20 goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, so it’s logical that we need another attacker. We can play Martial, Garnacho and Rashford but we need a killer, someone who lives for goals.”

“I don’t care if they perform well, I just want them to score goals. That’s why I don’t think Joao Felix is the right type of player for United right now. I don’t want United to look beautiful. With players like Felix people will say how beautiful we look with the way we play, I don’t care about that. I want us to look ugly.”

Felix’s goal record does give credence to Evra’s argument. Since moving to La Liga in 2019, the 23-year-old has averaged a goal every four matches, which means he is unlikely to be prolific if he makes the switch to Old Trafford.

United, Arsenal and Chelsea have all been mentioned as potential suitors for the striker. It is believed that Atletico could be willing to let him leave during the January transfer window if a club is prepared to pay a £9.5m loan fee, with an obligation to buy for £70.5m next summer. We shall see if Erik ten Hag’s side press ahead with a move to sign him.
