“Paid £500,000 a week for this …” – fans react to horrific Sanchez miss

Twitter has gone into overdrive after Alexis Sanchez’s horrific miss against Newcastle at the weekend.

Jose Mourinho’s side lost 1-0 at St James Park thanks to a solitary Matt Ritchie goal, however things could have been very different had Sanchez had his shooting boots on.

With the scores at 0-0, the Chilean found himself with an open goal having round the Magpies keeper Martin Dubravka.


However by delaying his shot rather than just slotting into the empty net, Sanchez game time for the Newcastle defenders to get back and subsequently slammed his effort off the thigh of Florian Lejeune.

The miss proved costly with United unable to find the net after and subsequently conceding yet another three points to fall 16 points behind league leaders and rivals Manchester City.

Jose Mourinho was not happy with his side’s performance at the weekend.

Sanchez joined United in January from rivals Arsenal after being linked with a number of Europe’s top clubs including Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Manchester City.

However United offered the Chile international an offer he could not refuse, tempting him to Old Trafford with a huge wage packet that sees him earn as much as half-a-million pound a week.

Sanchez however has thus far struggled at United, and that misery was compounded with his diabolical miss at the weekend and his side’s defeat.

Is he REALLY worth the money? These fans think not …
