Manchester United and Liverpool are both keeping tabs on Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, according to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein.

The reliable journalist claims that a move by Liverpool for the Frenchman could trigger an “intense” battle for the player’s signature, with United also likely to get involved.

With central midfield having been identified as a key weakness for the Red Devils, Tchouameni would undoubtedly be a great addition to the squad so we shall see how this one plays out.

Chelsea are the team who have been most regularly linked with the 21-year-old over the past year, so United will have more than one Premier League rival to contend with in the race to secure the midfielder’s service.

Reports suggest that Tchouameni may cost at least €50m (£42m), but the amount of interest in the France international means that figure could increase by the time that the summer transfer window comes around.
