“One Of The Great Objectives…” Report Names United Among 3 PL Clubs Chasing La Liga Ace With 51.5M Release Clause

Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham are all interested in Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco, according to AS.

The Spanish publication claims that the Belgian international is “one of the great objectives” for the trio of Premier League teams this summer. The player does have a €60m (£51.5m) release clause but Atletico boss Diego Simeone is said to be determined to keep hold of him.

Carrasco is also believed to be happy at the Wanda Metropolitano but he is not one of the highest wage earners, and there have been no negotiations over a new contract, despite the 28-year-old having only two years remaining on his current deal.

He can play both as a winger and as a wingback so it is not a surprise that Chelsea and Spurs are interested, considering they both play three at the back.

It’s harder to understand why United manager Erik ten Hag would be pursuing Carrasco. The mention of contract negotiations does suggest that this could be just agent talk, trying to pressure Atletico into giving the player a bigger salary, so we shall see how this story develops.
