Although he wasn’t helped much by his teammates, Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw had a pretty good game in the 2-0 defeat to Manchester City yesterday evening.
The 25-year-old managed to keep the likes of Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez relatively quiet, for the most part, and while he wasn’t perfect, fans on Twitter were, at least, appreciative of the effort he put in:
One of our best players last night. I feel sorry for the team you “coach”

There has been a noticeable improvement in Shaw’s performances in recent months, especially since the arrival of Alex Telles back in October. The competition for places has seemingly forced the fullback into upping his game as a result.
It has meant that Telles has started just five league matches following his move from Porto, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keeping faith with Shaw for the majority of the big games. Whether he can sustain this sort of form for the rest of the season, we shall see.
