‘We Have A Good Relationship’ Manchester United Star Explains Outburst At Teammate

Andre Onana has spoken on his ‘good relationship’ with maligned Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, after their harmony was questioned following a tirade of abuse hurled at the former Sheffield United man by Onana in a pre-season fixture.

The incident took place during a friendly against Borussia Dortmund – Maguire played a slack pass back to the Cameroonian, forcing him to rush out and deal with the danger he created.

Despite Onana’s irate outburst, he maintains that there are no hard feelings between him and Maguire and that he is just a ‘very passionate player’.

What did Andre Onana have to say regarding his outburst directed at Harry Maguire?

In an interview, Onana said [via TalkSPORT]: “What happened there was done straight after the game. I don’t think we have to give too much to what happened, we are big guys and what happened on the pitch stays on the pitch, we have a good relationship.”

“I’m a very passionate player, I demand a lot of my defenders. We are in this together, being part of a big club is something great.

“Manchester United is huge; I am happy to be here. Replacing David [de Gea] isn’t something easy, the start of the season is not what we want. It will come, I’m very confident.

“We all have to step up. We didn’t start well but I’m confident we will get it right. When I see how we’re working I’m confident and excited.”

Is Andre Onana an upgrade over David De Gea for Manchester United?

Currently, this is a difficult question to answer – it is made even more difficult when you consider that Onana has played just five games in the Premier League so far for United.

Certainly, he is not the shot stopper that De Gea is – on the other hand, he allows the Red Devils to play the ball out from the back much more effectively and comfortably.

Moreover, his long distribution – both his throwing and his kicking – are far superior to De Gea’s. Both of these attributes are crucial in the modern game, especially at the elite level.
