OFFICIAL: Manchester United Sign Alex Telles On Four Year Deal

Manchester United have officially announced the signing of Porto left-back Alex Telles on a four-year contract.

The 27-year-old has signed on the dotted line until June 2024, with an option of a further year. The fee is reportedly €15m (£13.6m) plus €3m (£2.7m) in add-ons.

Negotiations over the Telles deal took a while to be completed as the Brazilian had under a year left on his contract, and the Red Devils were unwilling to pay Porto’s €20m (£18m) asking price. They have managed to negotiate it down slightly.

It is United’s second senior signing of the summer, following Donny van de Beek’s arrival from Ajax, and it is badly needed new addition, considering how poor the Red Devils have been at the back this season.

Telles will be in direct competition with Luke Shaw for a position on the left-hand side of defence. He is generally an attacking fullback, having racked up an extremely impressive 13 goals and 12 assists in all competitions last campaign.
