“Obviously, It’s Nonsense” Rangnick Addresses Those Erling Haaland Rumours

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has refuted claims that he will be handed a £10m bonus if he’s able to secure the services of Erling Haaland.

Reports in Germany earlier this week had suggested that his contract included a clause that would have seen himself financially rewarded if he managed to persuade Haaland into moving to Old Trafford, ahead of the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea. However, Rangnick mocked the rumours:

“£10m for Haaland, £10m for Kylian Mbappe, £10m for Lewandowski, and £10m for Joshua Kimmich… Obviously, it’s nonsense. There’s no clause in my contract.”

Rangnick did play a role in signing Haaland for Red Bull Salzburg when he was Head of Sport And Development at the Red Bull Group so he does have a previous association with the Norwegian international.

Whether that will have any bearing on the striker choosing his next club at the end of the season, we shall have to wait and see. In any event, it seems clear that Rangnick won’t be given a bonus if he does help United sign the Borussia Dortmund star.
