“Not On The Way” Romano Confirms United’s Move For 34M Rated La Liga Defender Is Dead

Manchester United have now decided against making a move for Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier before the transfer window shuts, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano

The Red Devils have been pursuing the former Tottenham player for a number of months but, after turning down loan offers for Diogo Dalot, Romano has confirmed that the deal for Trippier is dead:

“Kieran Trippier is not on the way as the club has decided to retain Diogo Dalot after AC Milan, Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund approaches this summer. ”

Trippier is reportedly valued at around €40m (£34m) by Atletico and that is believed to have been the main stumbling block in getting a deal done for the England international.

Arsenal are also said to be interested in the right-back but Romano doesn’t provide any hints about whether the Gunners could end up beating United to the 30-year-old’s signature.

Whether Dalot will provide the type of competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants, we shall have to see over the course of the season. The Portuguese international had a decent loan spell at AC Milan last campaign and he will need to kick on in the coming weeks and months.
