“Not Just Manchester United…” Romano Names The Two Clubs Who Could Hijack Move For Dutch International

Manchester United have been joined by Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen fullback Jeremie Frimpong, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The former Celtic player is said to be the subject of a three way transfer battle, with Bayern considering him as a potential replacement for Manchester City loanee Joao Cancelo, while Barca are also looking to strengthen their options at right-back:

As Romano points out, United have been keeping tabs on Frimpong for a number of months. Manager Erik ten Hag is known to be a big fan of his fellow Dutchman.

The 22-year-old is a very attack-minded player and there have been some criticisms about his defensive capabilities, even from Netherlands head coach Ronald Koeman.

However, Frimpong has demonstrated that he is extremely effective going forward, having racked up eight goals and contributed nine assists in 36 appearances for Leverkusen this season. For ten Hag it seems, his strengths outweigh his weaknesses.
