No Possibility of Anthony Martial Leaving United

Anthony Martial’s cousin says that there is ‘no possibility’ of the Manchester United forward leaving the club this summer.

Martial has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford all summer after failing to stake a claim in Jose Mourinho’s starting XI last season. The 21-year-old did have a rather impressive pre-season though, but was names as a substitute against West Ham United on Sunday. There were reports last week that United had rejected an offer from Tottenham for the the France international, and that the North London club were preparing a second offer.

However, Martial’s cousin Jema posted about the Frenchman’s future on Twitter today, before he deleted the tweet.

He wrote: “For Manchester United, Anthony’s departure is not a possibility, even on loan. They rely on him.”

Martial has always been a fan favourite among United supporters, who will forever remember his debut heroics against Liverpool. There are often several complaints when the forward fails to make United’s starting XI, similar to that of Shinji Kagawa’s time at Old Trafford.

Inter Milan are another side who have been known to show a keen interest in Martial, which is perhaps why United’s attempts to sign Ivan Perisic fell through – with the Italian side wanting Martial in return.

United manager Jose Mourinho has spoken out before about Martial’s talent, highlighting that the Frenchman needed to be more consistent.

“Obviously we want more consistency in his talent,” Mourinho said during United’s pre-season game with Real Madrid.

“He was enjoying and was trying things, it’s important in these friendly matches to try things and he did, so it’s good for Anthony and his confidence.”

“He’s a young player, still time to learn, still time to improve, still time to develop, and it’s also his personality. I can say that he is training better than before, he’s working harder than before, it’s a question to bring his talent more in a consistent way.”
