Although it was a disappointing defeat to Barcelona last night, there were a number of United players who came out from the 1-0 loss with a lot of credit.
Scott McTominay and Fred were particularly impressive in the middle of the park, helping to restrict the La Liga side to very few clear-cut chances.
Fans on Twitter were quick to praise McTominay who at 22 years of age is showing some promising signs that he could be playing in United’s midfield for years to come:

Of course, it was disappointing that the Red Devils couldn’t have taken a better result into the second leg at the Camp Nou.
However, as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rightly pointed out, it was an improved performance compared to the home defeat to PSG in the last round.
With young players like McTominay stepping up to the plate, as well, there is cause for optimism, but overturning the one-goal deficit in Spain will be a huge challenge.
