Possible Next Manchester United Manager Thomas Frank – Should United Move For The Brentford Boss?

Brentford manager Thomas Frank is one of the favourites to take over from Erik Ten Hag at Manchester United.

Ten Hag was sacked on Monday by United after their 2-1 defeat to West Ham on Sunday where a late penalty by Jarrod Bowen handed United their second defeat in the last four Premier League games.

Speculation has emerged over who will take over from Ten Hag as United boss as Ruud van Nistelrooy has been handed the job on an interim basis.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has been touted for the United job and is the fifth-favourite to take over from Ten Hag.

Frank said in his Monday press conference: “I am very happy here it’s one of the best clubs in the world. What happens in the future, who knows.

“I will repeat myself. I’m very happy here and can see myself being here for a long time. If something comes up, let’s see. Now? No. Very happy.”

Thomas Frank has an impressive resume

Thomas Frank began his managerial career in the Denmark National Team’s youth teams for the U16s, 17s and 19s before he landed his first club management job at Danish club Brondby in 2013.

He spent three years with Brondby where he managed 103 games winning 46 and losing 28. He resigned in 2016 before becoming assistant manager at Brentford alongside Dean Smith who was in charge at the time.

Frank was then promoted to the manager role when Dean Smith left in October 2018 and since he achieved promotion with the Bees getting them to the Premier League in 2021 when they beat Swansea City in the Championship playoff final.

Since then, Brentford’s Premier League finishes have been 13th, 9th and 16th and the Bees have never really been in contention for relegation despite their relatively small status as a club.

Why would Frank suit the United job?

Thomas Frank doesn’t have the experience compared to some of the other contenders for the United job. However, his record speaks for itself.

The Brentford boss has done everything and more that he has been asked to achieve at the Gtech Community Stadium. Furthermore, he speaks well in the media and likes to play attacking entertaining football as proven by the Bees so far this season.

After nine matches so far, Frank’s Brentford team have scored 18 goals making them the third top-scorers in the Premier League. Seeing as Manchester United only have eight goals and are the third-lowest scorers, Frank could provide some attacking flair to impress the crowd at Old Trafford.
